Subject :"Gelapod meets Girl" by Fawkes

Girl was a highly unusual Muse, in many ways. She did not emblem inspiration as one would hope, nor was she popular for entertaining a crowd.
She was far from that. Her songs were inspired by cryptic legends, her writings never saw a happy ending and her dances came from the macabre.

* "O Girl, how tender you are!"
"Yes you already mentioned that last time bard." would reply Girl, irritated.
It has been two days now, the bard would follow Girl wherever she went. She was now heading home and eventually, the bard was yapping next to her.
"Can't you see my Girl, this beautiful day seems to beckon us on to the sun!"
Girl rolled her eyes.
"Fly with me!" continued the bard.
Girl yawned.
"You have inspired me!" would he add.
"I highly doubt so," replied Girl "I only perform that service when I am given a fee."
Girl did not want the bard to see where she lived so she bifurcated and headed to the wilderness hoping that he would let go. After realizing how utopian this idea was, she decided to face him.
"Listen bard, you have to stop this, I am in love with someone else."
"W-who?" stuttered the bard.
Girl could not explain why, but her creative instincts had left her when she needed them the most. Unable to come up with a decent lie she randomly pointed her finger to the left.
"The Gelapod ?" laughed the bard.
Surprised, Girl looked to her left to see an ugly, green weirdly-shaped thing in the middle of a pond.
"Yes that's right, the Gelapod" said Girl, hesitating.
She waved at the Gelapod. He was chewing on some butterfly wings and stared back at Girl, bedazzled.
Girl told Gelapod to accompany her home, making sure to sound as much in love as she could. A task that she found rather challenging, considering how repulsive Gelapod was. Nevertheless, her plan worked; the bard walked away defeated and Gelapod was too naive to ask anything, he just escorted Girl home.

She kept on carrying Gelapod wherever she went for the next few days. But as the days passed, Gelapod became as irritating as the bard was. He talked too slowly and paused after each word. The slime he exuded had a horrible smell and Girl feared it was noxious. On top of that Gelapod confessed his love for Girl and refused to go back to the wilderness without her.
"Girl - Gelapod - love - you - come - live - with - Gelapod - in - pond" declared Gelapod.
That is when Girl decided it was time to end all this nonsense. She took Gelapod to the wilderness and threw him back in the pond without looking back.

For the next days, Girl was tranquil. She had not heard of the bard or the Gelapod.

One night, someone came knocking on her door. She opened the door and with a hiss, found Gelapod standing in front of it. She decided to poison him. No one would notice some useless Gelapod missing, and, it is not like she never done it before. Girl invited Gelapod in and asked:
"Are you hungry Gelly honey?"
"Oh - yes - Gelapod - is - hungry - Gelapod - keep - eating - bad - food - in - wilderness" answered Gelapod in the same irritating way he always does.
Gelapod waited as Girl concocted the poison behind her kitchen. After a while, she approached Gelapod with a bowl.
"Here, carrot soup." said Girl as she watched Gelapod inhale the soup.
Satisfied, Girl watched Gelapod getting weaker and weaker.
"I don't feel well Girl" said Gelapod.
Girl noticed that his annoying way of speaking was now gone. She stared at the dying Gelapod, confused. A few seconds later the Gelapod took the shape of the bard.
"Bard!" shouted Girl "How did you -"
Girl was now lost in her words, and with what seemed like a surreal effort, the bard spoke.
"I killed Gelapod and then impersonated his shape thinking maybe you could love me as much as you loved him-"

The bard's eyes found the Muse's, but then something in the depths of the bard's vanished, leaving them hollow and distant.
The bard, like Gelapod had died.
"Oh well," said Girl casually "bad day for the lovers I guess"*
